What to Expect
Day 1, Tangier to Chefchaouen (140 km): Arrival at Tangier airport, guide picks you up. Head southeast to Chefchaouen, a picturesque town on the slopes of the Riff Mountain with its unique colours and old medina atmosphere.
Day 2, Chefchaouen to Meknes (200 km): Visit Volubilis, the Roman archaeological complex (UNESCO World Heritage). Continue to Meknes to visit its old Medina.
Day 3, Meknes to Merzouga (485 km): Head to Ifrane ("Little Switzerland of Africa"), then through Atlas cedar forest. Descend to Merzouga, a Berber village at Erg Chebbi where the Sahara begins. Dunes rise 150-200m.
Day 4, Merzouga to Tinghir (200 km): Climb Erg Chebbi dunes. Visit Todra Gorges with cliffs up to 300m.
Day 5, Tinghir to Ouarzazate (170 km): Dades Valley, Valley of the Roses, arrive at Ouarzazate ("Moroccan Hollywood").
Day 6, Ouarzazate to Marrakesh (240 km): Visit Ait-Ben-Haddou (UNESCO). Cross Atlas via Tizi N'Tichka (2260m). Arrive at Marrakesh.
Day 7, Marrakesh: Free day to explore the ancient Medina, negotiate in the souks, or relax on terraces overlooking the square with mint tea.
Day 8, Marrakesh (departure): Airport transfer.
