What to Expect
Day 1, Lisbon to Tangier (700 km): Early departure from Lisbon toward Tarifa. Fast Ferry crossing to Morocco. Customs formalities.
Day 2, Tangier to Meknes (330 km): South to Chefchaouen (Riff Mountain). Visit Volubilis Roman complex (UNESCO). Arrive at Meknes old medina (UNESCO).
Day 3, Meknes to Tinghir (435 km): Through Azrou cedar forest, uncommon route with breathtaking landscapes and mountain lakes. Through Imilchil at 2200m altitude, descent through Todra Gorges.
Day 4, Tinghir to Merzouga (200 km): Visit Todra Gorges (300m cliffs). Southeast to Merzouga (Sahara desert, 20km from Algeria). Visit Erg Chebbi dunes.
Day 5, Merzouga to Zagora (334 km): Through Rissani, west to Nkoub. Arrive at Zagora in the Draa valley, with the famous sign "Tombouctou 52 days".
Day 6, Zagora to Ouarzazate (163 km): North along the Draa valley (163km of palm trees). Ouarzazate ("Moroccan Hollywood").
Day 7, Ouarzazate to Marrakesh (240 km): Visit Ksar Ait-Ben-Haddou (UNESCO). Cross Atlas via Tizi N'Tichka (2260m). Arrive Marrakesh.
Day 8, Marrakesh: Free day to explore the Medina.
Day 9, Marrakesh to Tangier (580 km): Visit Hassan II mosque in Casablanca. Through Rabat to Tangier.
Day 10, Tangier to Lisbon (700 km): Early ferry crossing. Part ways in Tarifa.
